Typography = the art of arranging type on a page
- Point size (size 6 font; size 14 font, size 24 font)
- Letter spacing (condensed / e x t e n d e d)
- Line spacing (single spaced / double spaced)
- Italics
- Bold
- Font style

Logo Design
The purpose of a logo is to:
- Positively represent a business
- Create memorable, recognisable impression
- Helps build a business brand / corporate identity
- Be used on business cards, letterheads, invoices, marketing material etc.
Guidelines for designing a Logo
- Can be illustrative (clearly illustrates what business does)
- May include abstract or simplified graphic symbols
- Font-based (using appropriate typography)
- May include slogan
- Must look good in black and white as well as colour (as often photocopied)
- Avoid clutter and unnecessary flamboyance (so easy to understand at a glance)
- Be easy to read
- Original / unique / innovative
- Eye catching
- Timeless
- Scalability (look good, and easily read, big or small – so not too detailed)
- Meaningful (helps spread message about business)
- Professional
- Aesthetically pleasing
